Manual Gamer


Board games are awesome (and so are card and dice games for that matter). The purpose of ManualGamer is for me to help spread some of the awesomeness.  I’ll be sharing game reviews, rules overviews and the odd unboxing.

Why do this?

I often get asked for board game recommendations from friends, family and colleagues.  ManualGamer is a space for me to outline my game recommendations, demo how to play and provide a few tips on strategy.

It is also a place for me to provide rules explanations.  I always find it easier to learn games when someone teaches them to me rather than simply reading the rules.

Who am I?

My name is Tom and I’ve always been a gamer.  I grew up on monopoly, battleship, connect 4 and guess who.  In my teens a briefly experimented with HeroQuest and Necromunda, and played many games of 500, but my main gaming outlet was via PC. Fast forward to my early 30s and I discovered the world of modern board games.  I’ve been hooked ever since and have made some great friends through this hobby.
